Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum number of shares I can buy?

You can buy as few as 200 shares. Each share costs 1,000 Birr. If you subscribe for 200 shares, you need to pay 25% of your subscribed amount or 50,000 (plus 5% service charge on the total subscribed amount) at the time of purchase. You can pay the rest within two years of the date the bank starts operation.

What is the maximum number of shares an individual or a company can buy?

An individual or a company can buy up to 1 million shares which has a value of 1 Billion Birr. If you subscribe to buy shares worth 1 billion birr, you need to pay 250 million (plus a 5% service charge) at the time of purchase. You can pay the rest within two years from the date the bank starts operation.

When will Ovid Betoch Bank S.C. start operations?

According to government regulations, Ovid Betoch Bank can start operation as soon as it mobilizes a paid-up capital equal to 25% of the total shares offered for sale. This means we can start operations once we mobilize 5 billion birr paid-up capital.

Will the bank support shareholders in getting home mortgages?

Yes, we will make every effort to support our shareholders to get home mortgages as long as they fulfill all legally required qualification criteria.

When do you start selling shares?

We are happy to tell you that Ovid Betoch Bank successfully launched its Initial Public Offering (IPO) on January 23, 2024. We were able to raise 1.2 billion birr in 3 hours (a record, we suppose). We are thankful for the vote of confidence shown by the institutional and individual investors. We invite you to be part of this exciting journey to establish a successful bank. Share selling will continue until all shares are sold or after 6 months from the start date, whichever comes first. Judging by what we saw on the IPO date, it is highly likely all shares will be sold within the next few months.
